Arizona Star

Heat waves dancing atop the freshly laid pavement
Sun burning up skin and crimping our eyes
Flies trying to get in, but I can't save them
Poor little guys can't event realize

Let me welcome everybody to the wild southwest
A state where Wyatt Earp made history
Cities named after the end stone of our mess
Birdcage Theatre forever filled with mystery

Grand Canyons, red rocks, and cacti for days
Amerindian patches etched on the walls
Remembering the place my ancestors stayed
Walk out to go in and hear bald eagles call

Welcome one and all to the place with rays of gold
With one star on our flag, your knowledge is sold
The legendary land which until seen can only be told
Like our people, the state which can never be cold

Chayle...I do wish I could tell you about editing on your phone but I cannot ...in the future can you send me an email...as I have another contest forthcoming and I think you will do well in it.......just at the end of your poem put your name and the date...I just do not understand why I could not bring Arizona Star up...it is fantastic...and they were all so wonderful......with the poets standing up for their state, country , cities....I learned a great deal.

Arizona Star is an excellent poem. I tried earnestly to contact you and could not. Had you put your name on your poem it would have received first place. Thank you for entering my contest

I sincerely apologize. I am very new to this website. I submit all my work through my phone. I do not know how to edit already posted pieces. If you have any information on this I could use in the future, I would appreciate it! Best, Chayle
