Are you a bad guy ?

Fourty six years since our lives collided, on sand swept paths, mostly sunny, some blighted. I was taking a hiatus from men. You came to rent a room in my heart. It wasn't open back then. A struggling, single mom with a young son. There wasn't much space for any other one. I worked evenings and some times slept in. You showed up unexpectedly, a stranger, not kin. He was in his pj's with Tenie's unlaced, opened our front door to your unknown face. My son, my protector, all of three feet high, inquisitively asked, "are you a bad guy?" Fourty six years later, this still brings a smile. He opened our door to so much more which made this life worth while.

Hi Sara, Yes I rented rooms after my first divorce and my son became my five year old protector for awhile. LOL I'm so glad you enjoyed this poem. Hope fire situation down there gets better soon. Blessings

Dear Nancy, your poem beautifully narrates a poignant moment in your life, echoing the innocence and wisdom of a child's question. The imagery of your son, in his pajamas, asking, "are you a bad guy?" is both heartwarming and profound. It encapsulates the vulnerability and resilience of motherhood, the instinct to protect and nurture against all odds. Your words speak with the enduring power of love and the unexpected blessings that enter our lives. What a deeply personal and touching reflection—it's a testament to the strength of familial bonds and the transformative nature of unexpected encounters. - Blessings, Daniel

Dear Daniel, I appreciate your wonderful and well thought out feedback. My son was taught not to answer the door to strangers but oh well, he did let this one who turned out to be a good guy. Blessings to you

Hi Silent One, He was and he still is. We raised two beautiful children together and he turns 70 tomorrow after a year with tremendous health challenges. I will share this poem with him during his birthday party. Also, I'm not age conscious, as apparently I don't look my years I've been told. LOL Thanks for your visit and don't dare bury that muse!
