The Jewels of April
sparkles on the leaves,
reflecting in
the world of the microcosm
the birth of spring
the fleeting blue, blue sky, the brief
busy bee's dawn flight
It spread its wings
in delight
quick to dance among open flowers,
whirling like a hundred stars
tradition claims
like a jewel
a first-class diamond
indomitable
elastic skirt
while the moon spins in a circle
dangling down like a violin;
I want to flap my wings
a lone raindrop flickers
at my feet
more like April
so much like April,
it seems to me.
