April 18

This is nice I said
You smiled and I knew you agreed
We made love like drowning in the ocean
Surfing the waves of our desire
When the currents dragged me under
You were my rescuer

I felt so beautiful with you and still do
How long those hours lasted
Perhaps God had mercy on me after all
I know you were a blessing
I was almost lost at sea
Loves beacon reached out to me

Wherever I am now
You are always with me
In that fortress we built
When we lay in each other’s arms
And said those words we meant
Things unspoken before
Now strewn across the floor
With every shed item of clothing

I laughed and wept and recalled
The past and everything I had felt
Everything that I needed to
Everything that you have now replaced.
