Appetizers

APPETIZERS It licks it's raspy way across the land, and peeks around and drools at our abode. A plume of ash to blacken every man, and leaves our children standing in the road. Devours hot crackling sounds in baby's ear, with lullaby of death, it encroaches. It swallows cozy shelter, dock, and pier, drying up our lake as it approaches. Then feasting on all creatures great and small, it spits out raw bones, or glass, and metal. No blaze can chew on such metallic squall, nor munch the bones of Grimm's, bravest Gretel. A ravenous and lively old fire beast, pops us down as hors d'œuvres for the feast. Checking back with you and looking for some new works. Hoping you are well and, also, you're family. Missing your wit and unique poetry. Take care, my friend. Hugs. Janece

Thank you! It is that crazy busy year we I’ve had to hep family, fill out forms, change finances, make a Will, and do many many unpoetic tasks. I wanted to be back writing & I still find I can’t afford proper membership and I won’t see my way clear until May. I’m surprised anyone remembers me! So Touching.

Hello, Edlynn. Just checking in to see what you've been up to. You've taken a unique approach to the fires that consume all in their path. I've had to escape a few over the years living here in the mountains of the San Bernardino National Forest. Your description is pretty accurate. They certainly do appear alive and hungry. Be safe in this New Year. Janece

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Plan to write more and be on this year (and pay my dues... painful). I just got back from Copenhagen & got that killer flu. Eight days down with that! Now unpack, laundry, bills, see to my 87 year old dad. Barring no other harpoons like the flu, floods, fires... I hope to write at least one day a week! Cross your fingers b/c 2017 allowed no Art!

I think Sonnets are almost a natural poetry. I do love the genre and apreciate it (as I know you do). I need to get busy and read some poetry as well as write. I’m to leave for Copenhagen in a month so it’s doibtful that I will catch up this year. I very much want to! Thank you for being sooooo supportive!

I wasn’t in the fire but was affected with no power, spoiled food, no Internet/WiFi, or cell service. I have remained packed for 24/7/365 for the last 2 yrs but have more to do to be ready to bounce. I wrote THE HUNGER on here to for 2015 Rock Fire & so this one needed a dedication. Thanks Mike!

Thank you so very much Maureen! It comes from the heart, and unfortunately, too much experience with these fires. It was tricky to put in the genre format.
