Face Zentangle by Poetess

Aphantasia is the inability to voluntarily visualize mental images in one’s mind.

Aphantasia

G r a p h i t e feasts the eyes
ink then bleeds its overall
as permanence sets
polygons paralleled upon
rhombus obtuse oblivion
spirals splash with ecstasy
flames coiled cool
these are my designs
in my logic language labyrinth,
an off-centered photo meticulously placed
a pastel pink do-rag envelopes
a crack of a smile,
it softens the serious sudden
random thoughts race in a maze
buried in the subconscious
of a blind mind however
strange is the quiet way time blurs
the face of who was your whole world
the mind quenches the blaze
of a smoke show,
not flesh nor bone,
lost connections &lasting impressions
no longer my existence

Feverishly turning, searching
a forgotten face
at times, in late light,
your outline returns not clear,
only the hush of someone
I once knew by heart
I still reach for in dreams
I stand beside its quiet flame,
loving what remains
of a face my heart still knows
the blind mind forgets, the heart doesn’t
an imago of us gone
over time, as yours of mine
trails no traces, no sensing
what do you see when you close your eyes?

With no mind’s eye
recognize me in the clouds
picture me in stars
and if nothing else
here is a photo without its photographer
without its frame
without the certainty of forever
&eternity’s reveries
I’ve turned my back to our reality
the violet leaves its fragrance
following the hand that had crushed it
the forget-me nots
bouquets of petals plucked
forgiveness is that fragrance shed

Glad to help, I watch YouTube videos late at night, mostly on our brains & wellness, aphantasia was one I've never imagined, a good enough appendage to my face zentangles. Tyvm sweet Karen👍

To not be able to find understanding to what our eye sees instead to have to rely on descriptions sounds hard. The picture is very creative.

Ty, Alison, I always wanted pink hair. Hurtful characters forgetables that are best to forgive & forget, yet someone with partial absence of the mind's eye, are incapable of conjuring a face of a loved one. It's all so interesting. I am finding pleasure in being a trend-zenter, (pun) with my newest facentangles, it feels inspirational to be the first for this creative art on poetrysoup! Ty, for your kind visit.🙏
