Anybody Home?
In the centre of the steaming metropolis
Stood an apartment left empty
For years it stood sad and bleak
Staring at the busy lane
Once its windows were open
And curtains hung on rails
A candle stood on the chest
And flowers bloomed in the vase
She floated in and out
Always humming a tune
And caressed the walls as she passed
And rolled on the floor for joy
Then they took her away
And now no one wants to stay
In this dark and lonely flat
For her soul still lingers there
And when the night is clear
And the moon is high in the sky
You can still hear her hum
Some lovely lullaby
