Anxiety

ANXIETY

My heart beats like thunder… I try
To stop the wonder in my mind
But the pictures replay
As if in rewind

Sweaty and unsteady are my hands… I try
Calming my emotion - thinking of the ocean
I’m drowned by the sound
Of the whiplash in my past

Its heavy and strangling me… I try
But I can’t breathe
The pain is lingering in my chest
Like I’m in cardiac arrest

I want to cry… I try
But the tears won’t fall
They’re held back - entrapped
By this ANXIETY ATTACK!

A wonderful write Lay! One that I can relate with and I am sure many others can as well. Anxiety is a very scary thing and you have captured the essence of an attack very visually here. Thanks so much for sharing! Merry Christmas & God Bless~Mary~

Dear Lay, I was a victim of panic attacks years ago when I did not have a clue what was happening. . You are in my thoughts. As to my poem C&I, thanks for your comments. This was my precious big brother, whom I miss every day of my life. This kind of pain is forever, but depression and anxiety? I know they can leave you. All best from Nola (Citrine)

Dr. Mehta and Linda, thank you kindly for your words. I really want to learn and grow in my creativity, style, and form. Form being the biggest challenge; any recommendations on this would be helpful.
