Anxiety

Anxiety A crippling force that feels like it’s squeezing around your entire body Feeling inescapable When it comes to fight, flight, or freeze The choice is always to run Unless you are already frozen It takes every uneasy emotion and amplifies them until they become unbearable It makes every thought, one of “I am embarrassing myself” And “I am being judged right now” And your breathing escalates And there feels like no way to stop it STOP And just breathe Take one, deep breath Hold it And let it out It’s going to be okay Those thoughts that are running through your mind at a million miles per hour STOP And grab those thoughts Take control and ask yourself Are those the thoughts I have about others? Are people really as judgmental as I think? Oftentimes we are our own worst enemy Amplifying the small things until they become massive monsters looming over us So instead of flight Or freeze Fight Take control of your thoughts Your breathing Tell that monster Today you do not control me And it won’t always be that easy But every time we choose to fight We get a little bit stronger And stronger So next time you feel those feelings Stop And choose to fight
