Another Year Nears the End

Another year nears the end
And what a year it’s been
With scattered minds,
Mixed thoughts and emotions.
The need to protect myself is great.
My heart can only be torn
Apart in so many ways!
Must shut down and close myself,
The vulnerability sets one up
For more hurtful events.
Makes it difficult to love again….
Will enjoy my music and sing along
So soothing to the soul.
Will write my poetry and paint my canvas
And in doing so, relax my spirit,
Bring peace and sanity to my life.
My furry companion brings me joy
And makes me laugh, enjoy the simple pleasures.
With advancing years,
The love for one’s soul is strong
And the need to Just Be, the ultimate goal.
