Another Winter Star

I awoke to find the tall splendor of the world,
in those cosmic canyons,
shearing darkness ----
in the pallet of some ethereal night;
ancient with desire.....
to Illume the thick shadow of hades itself

Not death nor mortal doubt
couldst thou flee from me,
mighty as Aphrodite ----
Shooting thy silver smile
beautiful as heaven's promise!

In your shimmering I see hope,
for the heart which beholds thy majesty
the world could fade,
yet you remain.....
a friendly face if none should be found,
but you.....
that thou Creator dost reveal;
my soul,
ageless as thee
(am spun from the same loom)

That last line sums it up nicely, we are all stardust. Very well done Keith.

Hello Keith. I found this entry to be poetry in the truest and traditional sense. It is one to be read out loud with expression. Well done throughout.

Amen Charlie. Tis true that the old style seems to speak more deeply or metaphysically with some works.

Thanks Richard, long time no see brother! Glad you enjoyed, I was quite proud of myself when I etched the last word in this poem. As long as it raises a few poetic smiles it makes it all worth while...

Thanks Matthew, it does have a tinge of Tolkien too perhaps? I agree that poetry is a deep endevour; it is a mirror of the soul. God bless!
