Another War

ANOTHER WAR

To kill another man in the name of liberty
Is the rehashed creed of global greed
To some a country is free only if
It deserves to be
No thought for the individual calamities
Visited on the citizenry

The conspicuous lack of a coherent
Long term plan is galling
We are led to believe
That the gun will solve all and
Democracy must echo from
The west to all parts of the globe

Machismo rules the day
The headlong rush into battle
Is fuelled by testosterone
Destruction as always is its intimate bedfellow
With No thought by the combatants
Of the Day after victory

The bodies that litter the path of freedom
And hinder its progress
Are food for the media
Whose interest feeds the vicious cycle
Of the desecration of humanity
For short term gain

Economics has infiltrated politics
Business men fool Blind law makers
And selfishly rule the day
The gun of freedom is followed
By the grasping hands of trade
The debacle of lives illegally lost
Is but a boardroom coup

A dangerous game we play
When we infiltrate another polity
To interfere and set it free
Democracy after all has lots of pseudo varieties
Why must we champion one way to control
Over another with its local peculiarity?

The decision to go to war
Must never be taken lightly
