Another Reason To Dislike Autumn

Feverishly sipping thoughts more than coffee lingering in the less sweeter days of autumn's hue uninterested in seeing any beauty in its waking moments stirring like the leaves as they are stripped from trees endlessly wishing for the warmth the sun brings as i shiver through the layers of my tired soul stripped of emotions, left colorless i trudge onward through this day like a lifeless shell not caring for anything more then the fake smile i wear

Hi Sandra, Hope your cool Autumn days are not heralding a very cold Winter. Last year we had a scorching summer, and our spring has already sizzled us at 38 degrees centigrade. Seasons are becoming fiercer every year due to global warming. Go have your shot Sandra, rather safe than sorry! Love your poem, Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I love summer and the heat but i agree with you about the changing climate...our winters have been extremely cold the past few years but our summer's not as hot as they used to be when i was younger...though i think summer lingers more into september than it used to...i need to go get my shot...got a touch of something with the grandbabies...though dr thinks virus not flu which is good... Thank you Jennifer, nice new pic :) hugs

This is an amazing poem... so true - I haven't had the flu, thankfully, since I was a child, but definitely remember it well. I hope you don't have it. God bless you, sweet friend, with love and prayers for you, Gina

Sandra, I like this Acrostic that I almost missed. I agree with all the comments. A rare bright light, even if you fake the smile to cheer the dismal day. -Richard

thank you Richard, even if faked a smile is always in place... i tried to hide the acrostic, hence why i didn't name the poem flu season and give it away... :) hugs

Oh, ha! and touche, I suppose ;) Well, I am only a novice and you a true poetess, so there may be no counter ;) Lol. But really, if you are sick, my friend,, please feel better soon! This was a most excellent acrostic ~ you sure got your point across well!!

oh my gosh, I am so stupid. Even trying to read it down as an acrostic, I still did not get it until I looked way down at what someone said to you!! GREAT poem!! Hate the late fall but love the holidays!! I rarely get cold and flu, so I am knocking on wood right now.

your comment made me smile, it means i hid the acrostic well...i get sick here and there from the children on the buses and sometimes the coworkers...it happens, but usually not a severe case of anything thankfully... hugs :)

Gosh, am I retarded or what? I didn't realize this was an acrostic until I saw Vijay's comment below. (One thing for sure: I'm not always p.c. One is not to use 'retarded' anymore at the risk of being fired. Ha, ha: I'm retired)… At any rate, this is great... And there I was chuckling away at how, secretly, you were just adoring Autumn as you penned this. :) :)

You have definitely defined the flu season in the most poetic way I have ever read. This one hurt to read because I know what it feels like to have the flu, but it was so well written that one might even forget to feel bad after reading this. Your talent has no end my friend. Wonderfully crafted.
