Another Eternity

He knows this will be their last embrace. He holds her as tight as he dare. His tears in her cheek. He would remain there forever. He will lock her into his heart. And she will keep the key. His heart will turn to stone, impenetrable, Surrounding at its core, a tiny yet intense fire for her rages evermore furiously. A memory of how it was. Of how it might have been, should have been perhaps. He thinks of how it had been done all so wrong. All things happen for a reason. It was meant to be so. This way, this love, would never die. He was old enough to know that, This love happens seldom a lifetime, if ever for some. But young enough to still have hope. He takes comfort from the words of the ambassadors of the stars. The ancient ones who oversee. He knew this was by their design, if not his own. There is a higher purpose. And maybe, with the slow passage of time, Their moment together to be, would last an eternity again.
