Another Bloody Weekend In Chicago

Another bloody weekend in Chicago
   104 shot, 14 fatally
You know all about George Floyd
   But those 118 tragedies? -- null & void

Every one shot a person of color
   Every shooter a nonwhite
Where was Jesse Jackson's* loud voice                    *social justice warrior
   Father Michael Pfleger?* -- absent from sight

David Brown** spoke up                                     **Chicago Supt. of Police
   He wants violent criminals
To serve longer prison minimals
   How's that gonna play today

A 13 year-old-girl killed in a random drive-by
   Two hours later a 3-year-old boy fatally shot
No pleas for justice raised, however
   No shouts of systemic racist plots

Another deadly weekend in Chicago
   Neighborhoods cowering in horror
Where was the outrage
   Where were the alderman and Mayor

Julia A Keirns June 25, 2020 at 5:54 AM It may be "old hat" but so is the covid news. Yet, they don't stop reporting on that. We use to love taking a weekend trip to Chicago every once in a while, but won't go anymore. Sad that we let fear control us.

It's pretty bad. The agenda is: If the report doesn't feed the narratives (white racism, systemic injustice, etc.), then that report goes to the bottom of the list. Thanks! :) gw

Judy Ball June 24, 2020 at 5:32 PM Good question Gershon. When they had the death penalty for murderers people thought twice before they killed someone. Today they take someone's life away from them and they get a life sentence behind bars where they can get a free education, go to the library, learn to paint, see movies, go to the gym, learn a trade, get free room and board. Because it doesn't fit their ideology that the #1 problem is White Racism. If someone reads about all this black-on-black crime, he might come to think differently. Gershon Wolf June 24, 2020 at 3:54 PM Yet another reason you didn't hear about it was that it was 'old hat' already this summer. E.g., on May 31 alone, there were 18 fatal shootings, that's right, in the 24-hour period. That got some publicity elsewhere. But only 14 fatalities? -- Hardly worth a line of print... And all those wounded? People forget that some of them die, and many of them were in critical or serious condition... And so it goes... BLM's solutions to this: Eliminate police, the court system, and open the prisons… How about a moratorium on any publicity for BLM?! They should be regarded like SDS was in the '60's, i.e, a bunch of very dangerous radicals... Off the soapbox now. Thanks, Gershon

I think that in the last four weeks there have been two relatively minor incidents in my neighborhood of about 4 square kilometers. Chicago is the most segregated city in the USA, I believe. :) Gershon
