ANGER

It is wise to direct your anger towards problems - not people; to focus your energies on answers - not excuses. (William Arthur Ward) If kept bottled up, a poison taken like vitamins, this elixir will eat you from the inside. Ears pierced not with pretty jewels, but allowed to be stabbed over and over again with curses. Blessings should have been returned, kisses for the enemy, not for lips but for grace. Bitterness hardens the arteries, the heart becomes a surgeon’s slab. Anger entered with close encounters, with flying spit not holy water, with not the shadow of the King but of a spouse, leaning in not for a hug, but for elocution and effect sans affection. Forgetfulness of passion as if you were an annoying passerby. Still you hold your breath after all the tears have puddled around the bathroom concrete, almost losing your sanity…repeat…repeat, and grace. Enough love left, your mind nearly slipped into the abyss, but you pointed a dagger finger at the enemy, the devil, and shouted adamantly, “No! No! No!” and God turned it all around, your anger buried underground, your love melted your husband’s heart. Reverberations of a sound mind go out…go out to all. Applause of angel armies, the good guys, the surprise of grace. Kiss…kiss…erase the bad times. Good times roll.

Oh I love this ! What beautiful thoughts flow from your heart. Anger if bottled up can become so toxic like poison. But if we take time to allow the anger to settle down and bury the anger underground, it can create phenomenal effect and your enemy may turn into a blessing friend. All what is needed is God's grace. A beautiful poem dear Kim. It goes into my FAVE.

I can relate to this- you, being, the bit wiser than me, I sometimes feel the 'passions left like a passby"- I wonder how in the world we betray one another, over what? I enjoyed reading this, and wish you the best :)

I liked the initial quote as it set the stage for your poem. I've witnessed bottled up anger becoming rage. Although directed at an individual, the rage has more to do with the person perpetrating it than the person on the receiving end. I felt the anger and also felt the bitter tears within your poem...that can become so cyclical...but ah, love and grace can erase the bad times....such a profound poem, Kim. Best wishes with the contest...a great entry, hugs, Sara

i am fortunate to rarely feel this emotion. But I see it in many individuals and it greatly aggravates me because I just can't understand people behaving this way. Apathy in marriage is more understandable to me, but a spouse with anger issues is doomed to fail . Good one, Kim.

Anger is man's downfall. We must resist and try to find solutions. Your honesty is profound and worthy to read. Hugs.

Dear Kim, Your poem reflects such wonderful raw honesty on this emotional journey. It powerfully conveys the destructive nature of harboring anger and the importance of channeling it towards solutions rather than letting it consume us. I loved how your words create the internal struggle, the wounds inflicted, and the triumph of love and grace. Kim a wonderful reflection on forgiveness and redemption. - Blessings, Daniel

We should never stay where we are but move toward grace in prayer. Blessings. (For some the hurt is too great and abusive - different story altogethet)
