Anger

A cardinal sin,
Anger is the scourge of mind
riding roughshod on the soul.
A malignant cyst
gnaws you hollow from inside.
Like the termites chewing through
wood, Anger ravages
your soul. A rage is seething
toward a self-serving world
deep within my mind.
While people die of hunger,
some wallow in luxury.
At odds with the world
suppressing rage in my chest
wishing ill will toward all,
this benign tumor
has turned into a cancer
invading mind and spirit.
