Angels In the Snow

head to head, brunette and sugar blonde. snow angels and soul mates. cheekiness of wings, as college students only daydream into the sun kissed room. the professor taps the glass displaying a wry smile and a warning. eye to eye, blue sky peeks into moss green, illuminating shadows from her past. she hushes him with hugs. he reassures her with a diamond ring surrounded by tiny emeralds and sapphires. face to face, between the crowd and the priest. wanting to giggle and wriggle as they remain stoic at the moment. his wink almost makes her knees faint. side by side, white train and polished suit, enveloped by confetti throwers. as they reach the threshold of the church, a professor and his cheeky wife form angels in the snow. Their cold cheeks turn red and true blue. 9/3/2019 John Lawless’ 136 Words poetry Contest
