Angels and Demons

"Angels & Demons"
The Soul never sleeps battered and lonely, the lesson Life spent in The Hard Sell Soft-served you become melting Insomnia mouth sucking a loaded gun blue ribbonned and veined pulsing electricity from heart to lung to brain you’re a free bird flying high two crimes now swallows two minds You converse smoothly while you walk arm-in-arm the Heckle and Jekyll line Never now not lonely there are new friends the voices inside Opiate creeps furious and fast dancing with the shadows of all your yesterdays' Fausts The body’s a prison you try to escape surrounded by an ignoble past You are now a ghost hell-sold that day you made a pact at the Cross Road for Fool's Gold You now cling to the sign post waiting for 9 Inch Nails to be driven Passing other ghosts for silent acquaintance on their forehead is written "The Unforgotten Unforgiven" You’ve grown quiet in your loudness invisible and comically bold warm in the cold with all your burning indiscretions No one now ever really listens You are looking for sleep the final journey towards Home ten-pin bowls you for meaning In The Fall of your life you are tap dancing soft shoe barefoot with all of your Angels & Demons (LadyLabyrinth / 2020)

"Life's pulses now with fresher force awaken To greet the mild ethereal twilight o'er me; This night, thou, Earth! hast also stood unshaken And now thou breathest new-refreshed before me, And now beginnest, all thy gladness granting, A vigorous resolution to restore me, To seek that highest life for which I'm panting. The world unfolded lies in twilight glimmer, A thousand voices in the grove are chanting; Vale in, vale out, the misty streaks grow dimmer; The deeps with heavenly light are penetrated; The boughs, refreshed, lift up their leafy shimmer From gulfs of air where sleepily they waited; Color on color from the background cleareth, Where flower and leaf with trembling pearls are freighted: And all around a Paradise appeareth.” (Faust: II /Goethe, excerpt)
1. Faust 1(a) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goethe%27s_Faust Faust is the protagonist of a classic German legend, based on the historical Johann Georg Faust. The erudite Faust is highly successful yet dissatisfied with his life, which leads him to make a pact with the Devil at a crossroads, exchanging his soul for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures 1(b) https://www.theosociety.org/pasadena/path/v02n09p264_the-theosophical-meaning-of-goethes-faust.htm 2. Through the eyes of a shell, I look out at the world a conscience mind, no more no less then what is life's energy, and like a day or night I can be at peace or a raging storm, I am neither important or unimportant, I am until I am not, my only change is perception from whatever experience I have acquired with others who live outside their shell as they try to diminish or extend their existence

We are all looking through the eyes of a shell. Your thoughts gracefully and articulately expressed Monsieur Parker. An angel maybe, with a few demons. x

Although no one ever listens, we can ALL hear and see the negatives and positives, the angels and demons in one's soul...even the deaf, dumb and blind...methinks (lol) Congratulations, Leanne on POTD. Another fantastic write. x

We all have Angels and Demons, no one escapes either. It's recognising the real angels around us that is important, particularly when we have a surplus of demons whispering to us...no one is EVER alone, even if they think they are...but we should look out for those people the most and reach out to them when we recognise someone completely alone or doing it tough. Thanks Messina, you be an Angel too. x

I have written since age 15, I am 65 now --50 years - And I have not given up yet my friend. Poetry is in my blood, in my heart and soul. Sometimes seems to be a curse--other times seems to be a very sweet and most rewarding blessing! *At Dawn's parade of singing rays. When rising from night's enchantment. Verses linger through gasping day. To stir poetry's enhancement.*Such gifting may hold golden key. Casting light into dear life. Fate set this poet's soul in me.* Slicing through as a sharp knife.....

Robert Lindley Esquire...one of the Angels, with a bit of demon thrown in. Thank you. Your stories are channelled from the Laureates (all who had their angels and demons)...never give up, never give in. x

Ah, Light Angel...there you be. Lots of unique and talented scribes here, who are more angel than demon. Though, they love the concept of waltzing with the demons. Thank you. x

Thank you for sharing. This poem is marvellous in its poignancy and sad depth. A great idea to publish the suicide helplines. I am also here as a listening ear.

Well, it is a heavy write. At the end of the day, addiction is a Monster that cannot be battled on its own. Addiction is usually surrounded by abuse on a number of levels. No man or woman, is an island, but a person can fall into a state where they are that battle scarred from Life, lack of trust and the added measure of self-disgust and shame, and the shaming from people who don't know the background history or full set of facts, or care, can add to the magnitude of isolation - which can lead a person to the most criminal act of all, taking one's own life. I would want no one to feel that they are on their own ever and your added comment "I am also here as a listening ear", is one of great empathy and compassion, that delivers Hope to those who may think they are on their own. Everyone has more angels around them than demons, the Angels need to be seen and heard by anyone who thinks they are on their own. Eventually they step up. Thanks Kai.x

You and me both brother, as do many people within this ballroom (Life); some more than others. Stick with the Light Angels (who have more than likely kissed a few demons themselves and tripped their lights fantastic). The Light Angels are the ones who've always got your back. Thank you Arturo, my friend. x

John Fleming. Lovely to see you reading one of my poems. Long time - I should check your brain in your pages. Yes, I'm rather visual and auditory, I'm afraid. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't. I have more than a thousand pictures in my head, which people may or may not want to see, the may nots who could blame them? It's a Labyrinth in there, even I get lost sometimes. Maybe with Angels, Maybe with Demons. I am probably both. Thank you for your kind words and visit. x

Ten Pin all the way, no more gutter balls....did I tell you about the time I got sent to Detention in 9th Grade it centred around the boys in the back of the classroom throwing 'spit balls' up onto the ceiling. I was with a group of girls who decided to stop the boys by catapulting rubber bands at them, which proved to be quite effective, up to a point...all this while the teacher's back (German) was turned. In our way (the girls) felt sorry for her, we were only trying to assist. It escapes me who was the Leader of the Rubberband Throwers. Obviously she had no control over any of us, very sad. It was done with good intent, my rubber band, unfortunately hit the teacher in her face as she turned to present the lesson for the day to the class. I was sent to Detention for 1 week; I was the only one sent to detention for the week, I didn't rat on anyone. Then there was the case of the Alter Wine...but you know that story already. This delivered to you at 7am, 1 coffee down. True story.x
