Angel of Love's Embrace

The angel of my death I chanced to see
while visiting a deep and dusky dream.
And not a reaper grim and dark was she,
but rather, at the tunnel’s end, a gleam!

For in the distance glowed her beam of light
that I could tell was well within my reach.
The nuances that flickered in my sight
I knew instinctively to be her speech.

Each twinkle spoke directly to my heart
and urged me to press on through shadows’ way.
Then finally was loosed my fear to part
from earthly realm where I’d been wont to stay.

And when I touched her light; beheld her face,
surrounding me came utter love’s embrace.

What do you know, you got a first place with Brian with a sonnet (albeit 11 years ago... I'm slightly jealous, haha!) Seriously, this is an extraordinary poem of facing the end of life with confidence and peace, something we need more of during these current dark days. A fave for me.

What a beautiful dream, Andrea, You brought the reader along so well with this lovely sonnet, with rhymes and meter that floated on the wings of angels. Very, very nice, my friend.... Robert.

Go to the light is what they say, when time has come to go away, cast off your body cast and then, slip through the veil rejoin your friends... someday...

A beautiful sonnet Andrea and such a lovely thought that, at life's end, your angel could be so comforting. I love your sonnets :) ~ Sharon

They say the death tunnel is filled with light. Did you really have the experience? Many have, or so I hear. In my particular experience, the area, or space, was filled with music and color - no angel. Great experience. Love, Dave

thats different, i've never really heard an angel controlling ones death..sure,ive heard saving one from death, but not so much of this.so this is interesting.(: i thought it was called an angel of life, since they determine the day your life will end natuarlly.and then i thought an angel of death was when they save a person from dieng. ~Always&Forever Lynette
