Andreia

Our fear of pain intrudes upon The calm we have inside, So forcing us, then, to control It bravely; not to hide. Steadfast and strong, that courage found Is all we need to show; That manliness - Andreia, yes - Will strike your fears a blow. Andreia - courage, fortitude, The strength to pass the test - The word comes here from ancient Greece; The word means manliness. Andreia is a trait for all, However, not just men, For every person must be brave To face their fears again. If you can face the battles, foes, And trials of every kind With courage (not just bravery), You’ll be master of your mind. Bravery is fearlessness; I’d trust one’s courage more, For courage is being scared, But still going through the door. After all, the fearless man Will always stand his ground, But courage makes the coward stand When he wants to lie down. When problems rise for us to face, Our circumstances dire, With courage find solutions that Our problems there require. The only ones who know the joy Of life has faced their fears, Controlling them with courage and Enslaving them these years. If you can master what you fear, You’ll turn the tables on What frightens you. You’ll be a man, You’ll have fought fear, and won. So tell me not in sorrow how Your fears still play with you. Have courage, dear heart, show your fear That you can play games, too. Security comes from within, So make brave thoughts your aim; Show Andreia, and beat your fear - Best fear at fear’s own game.
