And When the Snows of Winter Came

And when the snows of winter came When the birds had flown away In the middle of a long lonely night Her memory came to him. Her smile, her eyes, the way her Mouth turned up just that way And it felt as though her soft hands Caressed his cheek. Outside winds howled down The lonely streets and alleys Blowing snowflakes recklessly into A coverlet of white. The fire slowly turned logs Into glowing embers Casting slow dancing shadows against Silent walls as Once again, she was his music She was his song And her music played softly Soothing his soul.
