And So It Goes

Had a horse once.
  Not anymore.
    Car's faster.  

Sailed across the sea.
  Not anymore.
    Airplane's quicker. 

Typed on an old upright.
  Not anymore.
    Computer's friendlier.

Wrote people letters.
  Not anymore.
    Email's speedier.

Commuted two hours to work.
  Not anymore.
    Get more work done telecommuting.  

       And so it goes...  

Still use a manual can opener
  Never bought an electric one.
    What difference would it make?

Still use a hand lawnmower.
  Never tried an electric model.
    My lawn's still green in August.  

Still call friends on the phone.
  Never find 'em on Facebook.
    Still have real friends.

Still look at old wedding albums. 
  Don't store 'em in the Cloud.
    Albums never get hacked.  

Still make my own appointments.
   Not Alexa.  
     I stay connected.

     And so it goes...

Yes it's a shame handwritten letters are becoming more and more rare, this is very touching and nostalgic-

Thanks for checking in with on this one, Michelle. I'm with you (clearly) 100% here, although I've kind of given up on them too … Just want you to know that I'm taking a lengthy break -- perhaps a permanent one-- from the Soup. I've appreciated your support all of these months, and I wish only the best for you, your husband, and your family. :) gw
