Ancient Spirit

Ancient trees within a jaded path 
           history begging for me to ask 
           what lies here ,what lay before ?
           enter twined with vines gone mad
           bears witness to history of love and war  

           Ancient spirits passing through 
           a soul left behind no one knew
           Indian trails of tears a fallen tribe
           the ruins of the many left behind
           what lies before , what lies by side 

           Ancient bloodletting crying through wind
           how to forgive a given sin
           why does one leaf find more relevance 
           casting out the single broken branch dying slow
          
           like the pain within my soul 
             an Ancient past refusing to let go...
