An Unfinished List

A “PAPA” coffee cup Not quite as old as Those who gave it to me. An old metal stapler, Part fastener, part weapon. 27 pencils which Can never be found when needed. Notes, scribbled cursive The hieroglyphics of the elderly. A seven and one half pound, Dust covered, Dictionary/Thesaurus A Poetry for Dummies manual A collection of “mystery folders” That I am afraid to open An heirloom collection Of paper clips The scent of bacon And pancakes…. Gotta go.

The call to write amid all of the old desk paraphernalia, including a dust laden book equal to the weight of a newborn, cannot win out over the call to breakfast by the tantalizing scent of bacon. I can't eat pancakes without a side of bacon! Room at the table for another hungry mouth wanting to be fed? Your list can wait.

Nice one John. We all have our collection of things that have special meanings for us that others see as just a pile of junk...now I'm hungry for bacon and pancakes. Have a great day.

Dear John, your lighthearted pen captures a life long on years and witty wisdom. I especially loved "Notes, scribbled cursive / The hieroglyphics of the elderly." lol! It is fast becoming a lost art for sure! A wicked awesome poem full of relatable moments and smiles. Bacon and pancakes -yum! Warmest wishes, my friend.. ~Susan
