Ozone protects life on Earth from the Sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation. In the lower atmosphere (the troposphere) near the Earth’s surface, ozone layer is created by chemical reactions between air pollutants from vehicle exhaust, gasoline vapors, and other emissions. At ground level, high concentrations of ozone are toxic to people and plants.

Ty, Ink. It was another opportunity to express my concern for our gem of the earth and sky and us! Nasa has answers and we are looked after by atmospheric research. It's good to know that you are aware of the elements and are thankful that nature protects as much-needed. Smiles

Haven't heard anything lately about the huge holes but I'm guessing they still appear from time to time. A friend of mine was dx'd with a rare form of skin cancer worse than melanoma. Scary

It was worse in the 80's when sunworshipper's addiction to tanning their skin with blissful ignorance. The days of hairnet spray and other aerosols where mostly banned. So sorry about your friend. It's gotten better now, I read Tommy.
