An Open Window

An open window, one sun ray enters. Distantly brightness paints the sky golden. Outside flowers sip the morning dew. Butterflies flutter on nature’s bouquet. Fresh scents wafting enjoy the morning breeze. Bees, too, imbibe Mother Nature’s sweetness. A minstrel serenaded long ago At the open window with one sun ray. The young girl behind her silken veil, smiled. Straight to her heart, words pierced her inner core. She was young, but he sang songs to many. As the years passed, his song never returned. Each day she sat and rocked and wished for love. Waiting in silence … she ever waited. Like butterflies, silent love has beauty. But like the bee, one sting can stop a heart. For a lifetime, the woman waited there. One beam of light blinded her loving heart. She could not see love, no matter how near. The open window invited many. No birds, butterflies, or men entered in. A huge veil of thistles covered her heart. She sat beside the open window. Heartbroken until her very last breath – Now, the open window cries all alone. 1/18/2017

Your poem reminds me of a couple of women I once knew that were like this, they were like ghosts. Either they wont close the book or it is a depth of love making it impossible for them to do so. God bless them cuz no one else can reach them.

Beautiful, and yet so sad, Dane Ann. The delightful imagery offered in the first part of the poem reflect the joyous elements of youth and dreams of love. Alas, the second part comes on a totally different note...a taste of loneliness and a love that never came to be! ~ Regards // paul
