An Insomniac

How does she fall asleep
Every night,
After so many years,
Knowing that tomorrow,
Is the same old war,
She has to fight,
Just like yesterday,
With the same old wounds
Never healed,
And the same old promises
Never fulfilled?

How does she fall asleep
Every night,
After so many tears,
Knowing that tomorrow,
Is the same old battle,
She has to survive,
Just like the other day,
With the same old words
Never spoken,
And the same old memories
Never forgotten?

She doesn't.
Instead she closes her eyes,
And let sleep fall into her,
Just like how she fell
Into him.
