An Expired Woman

They say you are done, you can’t have any fun
They say you are old, so do as you are told
They say start praying, it goes without saying
You are a wife and a mother, that’s it none other
Raise your kids right, make their future bright
How you feel doesn’t matter, now go clean that splatter
Act your age, do not show your rage
Let your dreams die, cry in the dark if you must cry
Your life is your family, why is that such a mystery?
A woman has an expiry date, after that she must wait
Life goes on except yours is almost all done
These thoughts that plague you, will only break you
Better make your peace and this pain will cease
Follow the rules, follow convention
Any other thought is not worth a mention
They say it's true there is nothing here for you
So, let it be, just let it be!

Men have always taken "vacations" to go "hunting", "fishing", etc., but every woman - wife, mother, or partner - also deserves an annual vacation where she can be herself! Aloha! Rico
