An Audience of None

Write,
they say,
what you know.
But just what if
you don’t really know
anything specific,
or even interesting,
that others might enjoy reading?
And yet you still feel the urge to write.
Should you write to an audience of none?

I read this and thought, "yes"! I think its in writing those things that we think only we understand that we connect with others. And this piece certainly connects! You are a very good writer. I am glad you found PoetrySoup. I am enjoying your writing very much.

I try, John. It's a bit intimidating and discouraging because there are so many good writers here. Inspiring, too...

The answer is yes. I always have to keep writing even if it's through a writers block. If I stop, I find that I stop for long periods of time and that doesn't bring me happiness. I enjoyed your etheree and hope you have good luck in the contest! Best wishes! XOXO -Briauna

Thank you very much! I'm much the same. I always have catchy phrases, snippets of poems, and melodies running through my head. Makes it difficult to concentrate at work.
