An Affinity For Yellow

and Vincent, the Artist applies on the canvas a black stroke here and a black stroke there before the crows disperse and disappear he steps back to observe but his mind is uneasy his affinity for the bright color yellow is enhancing his depressive manic state and he must strive for completion before it’s too late for his art and his soul will be lost to his inevitable fate but the Van Gogh legend must carry on that he must fall and rise again to seek out the night and to paint the stars

Very nice. And I like how you were writing about that marvelous artist VAn Gogh. I don't know much about what colors he had an affinity to. I always just remember Starry night when I think of him!!!

I like all the thought and imagery you put into this piece. Did you mean strive for completion? small change but I think it adds to the flow of your piece. I expect this will do very well in the contest.

Ralph, your words minister! I am a watercolour painter and love the color yellow, which seems to outline, underscore, and add life to all the ogther colors in the palette. Great poem. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Michael: Thank you for your comment. I was in the art field myself and I did some research on his life. The combination of his meds and absinthe created this yellow so it wasn't exactly artistic license.
