Amidst the Morning Hush

as lover's stroll amidst the morning hush
silent eyes yawn, stumbling fingers entwine
whilst through frothy waves reflective skies blush
squalling seagulls sip the morning sunshine

silent eyes yawn, stumbling fingers entwine
as playful dolphins tumble in the waves
squalling seagulls sip the morning sunshine
through the mist, sandpiper perched on the staves

as playful dolphins tumble in the waves
momentary embrace of lover's lips
through the mist, sandpiper perched on the staves
as darkness excites in solar eclipse

momentary embrace of lover's lips
silently gazing at horizon's edge
as darkness excites in solar eclipse
trailing footsteps fade out from ocean's ledge

silently gazing at horizon's edge
whilst through frothy waves reflective skies blush
trailing footsteps fade out from ocean's ledge
as lover's stroll amidst the morning hush

Hi Sandra, Congratulations on your win with this beautiful weaving of beach - aviary images. Love the phrase "playful dolphins tumble in the waves." Makes me remember how much I love to watch "life" at the ocean.

Beautiful penned and rhymed my friend. (Who says rhymes aren't her strong suit) I beg to differ, this was fantastic, the form, the theme and the feel of the poem were exquisite. "As lover's stroll amidst the morning hush" Sigh, so very beautiful. Best wishes in the contest

You did a very nice job with this difficult form, Sandy, Pantoums are always a challenge. Best of luck in the contest. Hugs, John

My first and prevailing thought about seagulls is that they poo on me - so I'm not inspired for the contest! For someone who hesitates about rhyme you really made the Pantoum shine; the imagery is absolutely beautiful. I haven't read about the contest (just the title had me paused) so I don't know if you had to use this form or not, but you rocked it, Sandra - a truly great job. I hope you had a GOOD Thanksgiving. Hugs ... CayCay

Thank you my sweet friend...seagulls and ocean's go together, i love the ocean so i knew i could handle the inspiration...it had to be a pantoum with certain restraints added...i struggled surely with this one...i was pleased with the end result, but pleased with your comment more...My Thanksgiving was good but hectic, hope yours was wonderful as well... hugs :)

This is wonderful, "through the mist, sandpiper perched on the staves as darkness excites in solar eclipse" love these lines. This is so easily visualized.

This is lovely Sandy, I've never attempted a Pantoum, this is top quality especially for someone who struggles with form and rhyme. Very impressive..you're braver than me...I don't think I could do it. No need for luck this is a winner for sure!

Thank you for your vote of confidence and kind words. I struggled with this form more than any form I have attempted and had it wrong and had to rework it. I think I got it now though. This one was challenging but sometimes I like being challenged. :) hugs
