Amid the Jagged Shadows
"Amid the jagged shadows of mossy leafless boughs; "
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
perhaps
in your eyes
i was never
the better part
of you
maybe
that's why
i always
let you
get the better
of me
it's like a game
when push comes
to shove
you always
win
i hear
the echoes
of your voice
raining down
on me
through
the umbrage
of time
i shiver
naked
like a sprig
on a leafless tree
in winter's breath
that harsh wind
of jagged memories
cuts through me
as my roots
remain twisted
in the mossy shallow
of your grave
