America's God

It must be clear that God's involvement with a nation or people does not exempt them from their insistent practice of human frailties and evil deeds. Moreover, as one of his many mortal creatures, you and I would agree that we fall so short of His Divine Standard for our lives. In spite of my shortcoming and occasional misdeeds, God is not 'finished' with me yet. It must be equally clear that God is a most loving and patient God, but there is a point of final judgment for individuals as well as nations. At this writing, it does not appear that we have reached that point. There is no denying that historically, America as a nation has indeed done some atrocious things of which I am ashamed. I will not address those matters here. My point here is limited to the fact that historically, America has always acknowledged the Judeo-Christian God in its major documents. Also, this nation and the Christian church has held a Biblical worldview for centuries. God our Maker has always invited us to call His attention to the words He has spoken and written. May we do no less in calling upon our nation to be accountable to the words it has written. In reality, my faith in America is Faith in America's God. And I say in closing, if for any reason there is a notion that God is finished with America, think again. Indeed, both our nation and the church in America have much to be desired. But no! I do not believe that God has allowed us to lose our 'God Positioning System'. Oh, yes indeed; there is great cause for concern. But make no mistake my friend; God is alive and well in the church and in America as a nation. Again, God is not finished with us yet. God does indeed bless the nation whose God is the Lord. May The Lord ever be our God, and may He continue to bless our nation. 05202017cjPS
