Amazing Grace

He grieved.
For his child.

Outside storms raged,
water levels rose.
That's where he died.
That's where the child died.

Drowned by the swirling waters
that carried his child away.
The child he loved so much.
Tears ran down his unshaven face,
As utter despair crushed his soul.
His cherished babe had passed away.
Only pain remained ....
........and anger.
A fearsome anger erupted
into an obsession with death.
Thus he lost his faith in everything.

Yet out of habit he prayed.
Until one day he found
an abandoned child.
And once again, involuntarily
Tears ran down his unshaven face.
He nurtured her as if she were his own.
Days passed, then weeks,
And slowly love and faith returned.

A beautiful story of a father mourning the loss of his precious child, and his faith and hope returns as he happens to find and nurture another abandoned child, father and child both blessed... Have a great day Victor.. ~ Ani

How wonderful that he was able to form a bond with another child after losing his own, Victor. I think parents are often so overcome by grief that they can't move forward. Excellent writing! Hugs, Carolyn

WoW! Victor, This touching story moved me deeply. You expressed the sorrow of losing a child very well. However, the joy he felt when he found the abandoned child was heartwarming. So happy to see his faith restored. Amazing Grace was the perfect song for such a write. Excellent write. I agree with Judy; it's P.O.T. D worthy. Have a great day my friend- Alexis

Oh how beautiful Victor. It reminds me of the song "Beauty For Ashes". "He gave me beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness." This should be POTD. Grat stuff. God Bless, JB

Wow, Victor! A lump in my throat! Some lose children in extra horrible ways. But if there’s a spark left in their heart it might be warmed by helping someone else. Great story writing!
