Congratulation. My Mom had the disease and it was painful. But you are right, singing helped and we must cherish what was and what is there, Kai

Heartfelt poem Ann! There is much confusion about dementia, chronic brain disorder and at times people have brain tumors and do not know it. A severe stroke affects the brain too..I get so sad when, here in the states anyway, Americans use this term rather flippantly to describe ANY memory loss! Alz= is perfectly terrible. Some folks get chemo brain from cancer treatment,

A very powerful, yet sad and tragic piece on a immensely destructive disease. Such takes a very heavy toll on those that love and are caring for the person that has that horrible disease. Your poem and its description gives us a look into the tragedy. Great poetry my friend, taking on a very sad and most difficult subject.

Such a fine piece Ann, concerning a really terrible illness as your opening line clearly describes it perfectly. My father last two years of life he had dementia which took his personality away. Thanks for sharing this. Blessings always,Gordon

It truly is Jan, and sadly it was diagnosed in her late 50's - she will be just 64 tomorrow, but is now unable to do anything for herself, but we will make her day as happy and we can, with her favourite food and lots of hugs and kisses. With kindest thought Ann xx

This is sad. Both my Grandma and Grandpa were afflicted. Your description is very reminiscent of my experience. I was lucky my grandfather continued to recognize me until the end.

This affliction devastates so many families --your poem gives them a voice. So many powerful lines: Evilly worming ~ silently destroying ~ sucking your loved one’s life away..and ..Enjoy time together, each minute of each day, before life slowly fades away. You said it so well, Ann!
