Always Wanting

This is me....where all my thoughts always turn to
I always want what I can't have.
Why? Who makes the rules?
Yes, I want it--but I know I can never have it
The more I see it, the more I smell it...how sweet it must taste
Though it will never touch my lips
No matter how much I wish it. No matter how much I plead.
No matter how much I yearn.

I want it, but can never have it
I see it, I feel it
So close, but yet so far
It haunts my dreams, my visions, my thoughts
It's so beautiful, so serene
But it hurts
I want it so bad that it hurts
Will the hurt get better? Can I attain what I want?
Is it within my grasp?

Maybe in a perfect instance, a perfect world
It would be mine, to cherish
To love, to hold close
But this world is not perfect.
And I can never have what I always want
