Notes About The Poem

Always Have Hope

(For my friend Aisling: da'iman 'amal) In the night that runs on fear, smile at me. When nightmares haunt, laugh at me. When demons show their ugly masks, beam at me. And always, ever have hope. When your head is so full it cascades, stare at stars. As thoughts spill ferociously, softly seek them. Forget thousands of misplaced words, see glimmers Of hope, always have hope. Days where you can't hear your thoughts, listen to music. Minutes failing to making sense, immerse in singing. 'Seconds' a word without meaning, tune in harmony. Believe in hope, there always is hope. When nothing rhymes, you almost lose it, In darker days, you cannot meet it, In doubt, despair, or anger, it will elope, But it will return, not ever lose hope! *** January 21, 2017

The only justified philosophy is that of hope. Some year ago I read (in translation: Torrents) a book of Ann Desmares, a Danish author and I found an old motto: ”To meet and depart-that is the life/ To depart and regain- that is the song of hope”... Well, that is with your poems growing like Grass of Hope,or Worte wie Blumen /blowing as lasting flowers.

I am in love with this poem. It reminds me of the Egyptian revolution. I wrote an article in "Egypt Today" titled "Voting for Hope" because that's exactly what Egyptians were doing in their first ever free presidential election. I was lucky to be among them, voting :) and I am even luckier to be reading your beautiful, inspirational words. Shokran :)

'afwan :) My screen name won't give it away, but I am the son of Egyptian refugees. And although I've never been there, of course my blood is 100% :) Nice to meet you!

The sweetest wisdom gently embraces the reader and uplifts all dusty fogs inside us to reach light. Sweeter than sweet and move giving than simple kindness, you gift selfless and unconditional love as a silk blanket of hope to warm those you love. I am touched. CayCay (hope to write u soon!)

7. Wow - I got goosebumps reading this. I got light-headed. "In the night that runs on fear" - great first line. : ) How do we overcome fear of rejection, fear of hope getting crushed, dashed upon the rocks of human reality? Reading this poem, I was able to sort of "relax into it," and believe.
