Along the Star Trail

Through the vast expanse of the sky
In the caliginous night
A lone bright star trailed along
Was it Sirius- the pole star
Navigating the sailors of the sea?
No, it started its journey
From the Heaven’s imperial threshold
And through hindering clouds
Made its way, shining bright
Its lambent rays dancing in glee
Making bright everything under the sky

All starlets of the firmament cowered in shame
And hid in remote corners dark

This celestial light piloted the three wise kings
Who from the East had traveled a long way
To see infant Jesus, with gifts in their hands

Crossing hills and dells, moors and mounts
With the star travelling over their heads
The magi reached Bethlehem
Wherein beheld the Star of stars, the son of God
In the simplest of dwelling, in a stable

In this season when hundreds of stars shine
Here, there and in every house and spire
A humble prayer rises from our hearts
‘Through Life’s weary highway as we pass
Let your light pilot us like a lighthouse
Ere we drown in a wind tossed sea’!

Joseph, understood fatherhood long before. I always wonder what must have been the extent of his shock, when he realized that the girl he was going to marry was already pregnant...:) :) Thank you Rico for your humorous comment

The biggest error is that Christians do not have a Baby Jesus waiting for the Three Wise Men. We are too materialistic. Lovely poem though.

Yes, Infant Jesus is never born in our hearts. We still keep him in the manger. Thanks for your insightful comment Victor !
