Alone Here I Stand
I hold you in my embrace,
Then you pull away,
You hide your face,
It is I you betray.
So happy we were,
So much in love,
I see you at the altar,
A love from above.
Now the love we knew,
Gone in an instant,
Why can't we renew,
My heart, no longer present.
You at one end,
I at the other,
Not willing to bend,
What is the answer?
I look at you,
You look away,
What did I do,
What did I say?
So many questions,
Not any answers,
You cling to the curtains,
I think of my failures.
You walk out the door,
Your bag in hand,
It is you I adore,
Alone here I stand,
Why?
