Almost

Almost…

You almost had me.

Your charms were nearly too much to resist,

Your comfort felt like no other,

My desire for you unparalleled.

I was lost and you found me,

I was afraid but you shouldered my fear,

I was alone and you were my only friend,

You almost had me.

I could’ve followed you to the ends of the earth,

Consumed in your comfort,

Absolved by you of my responsibility,

You almost had me.

I was living yet dying,

Alive but dead,

Warm but unfeeling,

You almost had me.

Almost…
