All Things Change

Comes the time when all things change --
The finely-groomed dog will get the mange
A warm summer's day gives way to the storm
Even the cloistered student flees the dorm!
The moon goes through its various phases
And I, the poet, will avoid overused phrases,
Though I'll admit, I'm a fan of the status quo
Becoming anxious when sleet turns to snow
Nothing stays the same forever, inevitably,
I must become accustomed to what's to be.
Like it or not, it matters not, things change
Seems at my age, I wouldn't find it strange!

I used to have one in a terrarium, but it didn't make it through the winter when I couldn't catch enough flies to feed it.

But the whole universe is so vast, it's difficult to find that certain power to emerge from nowhere then intervene to save us from morass. In the end, it is up to us to elevate our moral values and try to find clarity in why we do what we do and what we're trying to achieve, so we can proceed looking up. My humble take. I like familiar… one thing I detest with a passion???
