All That Is
All that there is and all that will be,
Will always be no matter what ceases to be,
Day and night its all I see,
The owl, staring...
I stare back it stares at me,
Its all that there is, all that will be.
Nearer I draw,
Closer to my God than thee,
But weary the journey is,
Especially when the owl stares at me.
I've learnt to live,
A life with the staring, the haunting, the darkness within,
The pain, the rush, the adrenaline,
The fear, root beer, lonely as it seems,
And it keeps staring,
Staring at me.
I don't know what it wants,
Never known what it needs,
But once it said to me,
In the calmest darkest part of my sleep,
" Life and love are temporary,
Hope and darkness eternal"
And while I didn't know what it meant,
The feeling peered from the forest, the yonder, the unseen,
And I knew that all there is,
Will always be no matter what ceases to be.
Isn't that what life is?
A fantasy based on dreams,
Men laugh at dreams and those who dream succeed?
Those who succeed make others live in a dream and dreamy it all is,
Then one by one we all fall down in fear and defeat,
Not knowing where we are going and the universe that all is?
Till all passes and all that there is remains to be as we cease to be?
Isn't that why this owl keeps staring at me?
Isn't that all that will be?
Am still staring at this owl,
Not knowing what it is or the colour that it chose to be,
But knowing that it's an owl no matter what it is,
And it's all that will be no matter what ceases to be,
Do you know what I mean?
