All I Ask

I need you to be my earth angel
I need you to kiss away tears
I need you to comfort my soul
I need you to conquer my fears

I want you to be my hero
I want you to release my dream
I want you to be my victor
I want you to love to extreme

I need you to be my sunshine
I need you to drench me like rain
I need you to bathe me in light
I need you assuage my pain

I want you to be my lover
I want you to make me to feel
I want you to teach me pleasure
I want you to make it surreal

I need…I want…I must have you
I burn with unquenchable fire
Your prowess… the essence of life
The source of burning desire

If this is too much that I ask
To comply with beyond your will
Then, oh, just let me adore you
Of your charm, let me have my fill

I only want to be near you
To bask in your beauty so fine
Your words resurrect me to life
They transport me to the divine

Oh please, let your presence cover
In your glow let my poor heart bask
I long to lie in your shadow
Oh, my love, is this much to ask?

Eileen....selfless love radiates so beautifully in your words....a most wonderful write. I do agree with Drake though, live in the light of his love not the shadows. Going to my fav's. Hugs

A shining mix of strength & vulnerability. Yet, one line got my attention: "I long to lie in your shadow". I understand why it's said and its depth, for sure. But, what if people longed to rest in their "light". Just a random thought. A very elegant declaration of security & substance.

Thank you, Drake for pointing that out to me. I understand the depth of meaning you want me to grasp. True....I wonder if this is culturally defined as well....Reminds me of Bette Middler's (Spelling?) rendition of Hero...Did you ever know that you're my hero? You were content to make me shine...you always walked a step behind.....

The message in this is fine as long as the other party reciprocates in equal measure, if not, this person is in danger of being taken for granted. You are writing some controversial poems lately my little Desert Orchid. Well written piece all the same. Take care, Richard

Is that bad? To be controversial? oi....what to do? I've always be a bit of a rebel....My favorite tshirt growing up was one that had the words TROUBLE MAKER right across the front. I am on, aren't I? Now....don't you go changing my name....DESERT ORCHID suits me FINE, thank you very much! :)

Need and want are powerful emotions. Sometimes we become lost in impossible dreams that can become nightmares of dissapointment. Best not to place any man in such an elevated position. Better to embrace the wonders of the one who will never dissapoint and loves unconditionally.

It is like telling the sunflower not to turn to the sun, or the moon not to reflect the sun, or the starts not to shine.....GREAT ADVICE, Richard, but remember....this is me. I tend to idolize....yes, I know it is wrong, but I'm just wired that way. There is only ONE who fits that description.....whose love is unconditional...He will NEVER disappoint. Amen! :)
