all good and some bad things come to an end

Retirement offers things new I'm shouting a hip-hip yahoo If what you’re feeling Comes from a glass ceiling Stop squealing and just say I'm through! Retirement offers a lift With no bad-ass boss who gets miffed Since freedom will ring The songs that I’ll sing Sound more like those by Taylor Swift

A fun limerick, expressing your appreciation for retirement, must be liberating yes, to be away from bosses that maybe rude etc. i think it must be nice? Or maybe to take every experience from a positive light is what we can do. I really smiled as i read the taylor swift reference haha: didnt think you would listen to taylor swift. Or do you? Pleasure always reading your excellent work. You always are so sincere with how you express

IE, I hadn’t seen this comment. I was working in safety-related job. A new boss came in who didn’t listen so rather than suffer, I left. Lucky I could do that. I don’t suppose many people in their 70s are swiftees, but she is a phenomenon. I should listen to at least a few of her songs. In any case, talking to you and reading your poetry is a pleasure.

I wish I could say hip hip hooray. My husband had intended to keep working into his 70s but a big job injury has left him disabled. Not terribly so. But it has made him dizzy and affected his. Cognitive skills a bit. I have to drive him everywhere. And I still teach but only 15 hours a week, not so bad. Neither of us got great social security money so I will work until I drop since I teach at a private ESL school. I don't get great pay or any benefits. Glad for Medicare though!

Sorry he was injured. He's very fortunate to have you. I hope he gets financial compensation for what happened. I would have liked to work several more years, but honor and self-motivation can only go so far. It's sometimes hard to enjoy the moment, but I try to. When it becomes impossible, it's time to move on. I hope your students appreciate you and at least you are only working 15/hrs per week. I hope that's not too bad.

I remember the day after I retired I couldn't believe that the day was mine. It was like winning the lottery, I often see people I work with who tell me all the changes that the company are bringing in and tell me I got out at the right time, strangely enough I often wonder how I had time to go to work lol. Happy New year Duke and hope you have a happy retirement. Tom

Thanks Tom. Isn't interesting that many work environments are getting worse? I am still working until the end of January; however, I see things deteriorating. I am thinking I don't know how I did this job/previous jobs every day. We do change over time. My honor can only take me so far. You have a lot of very valuable wisdom!! .
