John Lawless' Contest: Just Because 10/ 3/ 24 POTD
Welcome back, dear me let’s sip vintage wine and merry be awakening to a radiant dusk exactly as is, caressed by sheer madness igniting a dance a swing with a playful breeze and to soak in evening’s tickled mist, as reaching out to others completely drains my core like an overused machine ; my quality time lessened slain by kindness... Now, my days taste the cherry of life indulging in forsaken passions leisures denied… Yes, it’s all because self-nourishment rings aloud: buy that violet lipstick, paint the moon with enthralled eyes… throw a sinful dessert party and ride the carousel with complete abandon! If Mom calls and neighbour Pam asks for extra help in her garden, I’ll wink gently— Say no. For my heart is running empty, It needs to be fed with jazz's tempo without the guilt trip. So, I’ll smile at my body And leave all for a while, as real love begins with me, lifting this soul on the halo of fire--

Nette, a very interesting write about what we might be thinking. The line, "Real love begins with me" says something thought provoking. We do have to take care of ourselves so we can enjoy all that we do. Not a bad thing when developing self. Smiles!!

' it’s all because self-nourishment rings aloud. ' Yes, and it's needed sometimes. Your thoughts are beautiful and sensual, all at the same time. So good reading your words again, Nette. Congratulations, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy

Hi Nette, A wonderful poem of self-discovery, if you don't love yourself it's hard to share the love. On a plane trip they tell you, in an emergency give the oxygen to yourself first and then to the kids or someone, very true words, otherwise how can you help others if you are oxygen deprived? Another saying comes to mind, when you like something you see, such as a painting in the market and such like, and the impulse tells you then get it (your violet lipstick for instance), it may not be there next time. Bravo and Congrats on your POTD. Hugs Maria

Dear Nette, What a wild ride through self-rediscovery. I truly loved how you're ditching the people-pleasing for some well-deserved self-love. From violet lipstick to moonlit eyes, you've captured that "screw it" moment perfectly. Keep rocking that jazz tempo and nurturing your soul! Autumn Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Awesome take on an increasingly common theme - self love. Or perhaps in this case, self-nurturing. You always write so well

Wowwww, exactly what I needed to savour, poetically, today! What a spellbinding write this is, dear poetess.. I love how you've painted that moment of sudden awakening when we wish to begin nurturing ourselves and start doing things which we had marked as stars in our bucket list for so long. Life is too short and our souls need that love & care beyond anything else ~ "a dance a swing with a playful breeze and to soak in evening’s tickled mist", "buy that violet lipstick, paint the moon with enthralled eyes", "as real love begins with me, lifting this soul on the halo of fire" Ahh, I sense a truly genuine, soulful aroma in your words! This piece is stunning! Keep writing and shining, best of luck for the contest ~
