Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Imprisoned under the communist dictatorship
Of Joseph Stalin,
Survived the horrific conditions
Of the Gulag Archipelago,
And believed that such
Terrible atrocities happened,
Because "Men have forgotten God."

Note: Solzhenitsyn was one of the great prophetic voices of the 20th century,
Warning the West against the dangers of Communism and Socialism,
And of the totalitarian nature of such ideologies. We need to heed his warnings
                  Now more than ever.

I am familiar with the writer. He lived in a neighboring New England state – Vermont – for years. I've read only one of his books, about life in a gulog. That was many years ago. Thank you for reading my snake poem. Emily Dickinson has a great one about a snake. Best to you in your writing endeavors. / Maurice

I believe that too...the thumbing the nose at God. We pray.
