I have never seen an albatross but have heard of them. I think it would be a delight to see one. I have heard of Fleetwood Mac but not familiar with the tune either. I guess I need to look it up. Thanks for telling us about the two things. I appreciate the visit to my page. Sara

Thanks Paul, Hope you enjoyed your Italian adventure. i am sure Valentina kept you on your toes with her itinerary planned ! I enjoy this form , it can be challenging to get it to flow with the small syllable count:-) I hope you have time to write for the contest:-) hugs jan x

A darn good one my friend. And informative to boot. I knew about Fleetwood Mac but did not know about Gooney. Sheds a whole new light on the movie "Goonies".

I didnt think I could write 7 lines on the birds so went for a 2 pronged approach lol. I didn;t know about Gooney's until I did a bit of research for the poem:-) hugs Jan xx

Damn… some time ago someone on tv was raving about how great ‘Rumours’ was. So I tracked down a copy, filed it with my CDs and have never got around to playing it… didn’t even check the track listing. If I had known ‘Albatross’ was on it, it would have had pride of place in my cars CD changer. Oh by the way… I rather like your poem too! ;-)

An albatross is a sign of a heavy burden to me. Yours in Pleiades form was not a burden to read, Jan. After your win, throw it overboard, though.

Normally it's a sign of good luck, but in Coleridge's 'Rime of the Ancient Mariner,' the albatross is shot and killed, thereafter bringing a curse of mishaps to the ship. Good reading.

Your Pleiades poem is truly captivating, dear Jan! The charm of the letter 'A' shines brilliantly in every line, casting a spell of enchantment over the reader. Albatross a sign of power and fertility, has long been a muse for poets, and your interpretation of their beauty and symbolism is truly one-of-a-kind. BOL for the contest, have a great weekend.
