`

Once up early
Full of pep
Out the door
And down the step

But that was then
And this is now
Later on
I’ll wonder how

Now they‘re ruthless
just can’t do them
Yawning, cranky
past my prime

Set the clock
To something different
Let me sleep
Till dinner time

I wrote for this too but my lines are long, though in my defense I did not even think to try brevity. This is already a winner as far as I'm concerned. Perfectly poetically precise! Poetry hugs ...
