AI and the Edges of Our Humanity

The age has carved new mirrors out of code, Bright engines humming with unhallowed speed. They capture thought the way rivers hold stones, But they never hunger for what our souls bleed for. They answer faster than our trembling minds, They predict our fears before we learn their names. But though they mimic every pattern we design, They never walk the long road that shapes our destinies. For circuits can calculate, but they cannot choose. Models can speak, but they never taste their words. They cannot lose the battles that break human pride, Nor hear the silent aches hidden inside the songs we have lived. A poem built by algorithms may shine, A perfect tower untouched by time or pain. But poems forged by hearts that dared to feel Carry a holy pulse no metal can ever define. These tools can guide like lamps at dusk, Helping the weary see the next stone on the path. But they cannot bear the weight of human trust, Nor stand for you when conscience draws its line in fire. Yes, let them help, But only as a map helps, Never as God helps, Never as a friend helps, Never as the Spirit helps. For what is gained if we outsource our becoming, And trade the sacred struggle that shapes humans into truth-bearers? No engine has ever learned the cost of love. No program has ever tasted the sweetness of regret. No system has ever felt the sting of rising again After a heartbreak that nearly stole breath from the soul. Wisdom grows in wrestling, never in ease. Wisdom rises in the reality that exposes who we are. If we surrender every sacred need to machines, We drift, untethered, from the guiding star of our humanity. So guard the fragile borders of your soul, The place where real decisions are born and tested. Let AI serve like a tool, but never sculpt the whole. Let steel assist you, but never redesign your becoming.
